German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed concern over North Korea's deployment to Russia during a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Scholz said after meeting with Xi at a summit of 20 major countries in Brazil on the 19th local time, "I mentioned the North Korean military's involvement in the war between Russia and Ukraine."

He added, "The dispatch of North Korean troops is a very intensifying conflict," adding, "It is something that everyone in Asia should be concerned about."

This is the first time that Prime Minister Scholz criticized North Korean troops by directly mentioning them.

Scholz reportedly stressed to Xi that "it is important to discuss issues such as Russia's invasion of Ukraine or the dangerous situation elsewhere in the world."

Foreign media said this was interpreted as an emphasis on the role of China, a powerful country, to end the conflict.
