Rafael Nadal, the reigning tennis star, lost his last active match.Nadal, ranked 154th in the

singles, lost 0-2 to the 80th-ranked Dutchman in the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup Final, his national competition.

It is the first time in 20 years that Nadal has lost the singles at the tournament since 2004, and his career record is 29-2.

Nadal, who was born in 1986 and is 38 this year, is a star who has won 22 major singles and won gold medals in both singles and doubles at the Olympics, and has not participated in an official tournament since the Paris Olympics in August after announcing his retirement this year.

Alcaras won the singles that followed, but failed to advance to the semifinals when they lost the final doubles.
