In a written congratulatory speech at the National Assembly debate on the revision of the Public Official Election Act for freedom of election campaigns, Lee said that the current law overly restricts election campaigns and that politicians walk on the prison fence.
The Constitutional Court then said it had decided that political expression and campaigning should have freedom as a principle and exceptions to prohibition, stressing the need to revise laws that uphold principles but increase freedom of expression and political trust.
He also pointed out that the current law has limitations on the entry of political newcomers, and that the law should be changed to strengthen transparency and prevent illegality.
The Democratic Party's press service explained that Lee's written congratulatory speech was delivered to the organizers of the debate on the 14th, before the first trial was sentenced for violating the Public Official Election Act.
