A former Democratic Party lawmaker in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, who is suspected of sexually harassing a fellow female city council member, denied the charges in court.

In the first trial held at the Incheon District Court's Bucheon support hearing, a former Bucheon City lawmaker accused of forced harassment claimed that he had no intention of harassing a fellow lawmaker at the dinner.

He went on to stress that another fellow MP, who saw his usual lack of confidence with another man, said he did not understand the allegation of molestation.

In May last year, A was indicted without detention on charges of forcibly harassing a fellow female lawmaker by hugging her arms at a restaurant in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do.

At that time, about 20 Bucheon City lawmakers conducted joint training for two nights and three days, and it was investigated that an incident occurred at an evening drinking party.

As the police investigation began, Mr. A resigned from the Democratic Party of Korea.
