Since May, nearly 2,000 harmful products have been blocked by the government on Ali and Temu, Chinese overseas direct purchase platforms, have been reported.

The Fair Trade Commission said it had blocked more than 700 products with confirmed hazards and 1,915 recalled products since signing safety-related autonomous agreements with Ali and Temu in May.

Among the blocked products, 33% of the products contained harmful substances, as well as home appliances and electronic devices that could cause explosions, fires, and electric shocks, followed by children's supplies with 31%.

The Fair Trade Commission said discount events will be held on the 29th for Black Friday in the U.S. or Boxing Day in the U.K. on December 26, and demand for year-end gifts is expected to increase in Korea.

The results of government safety surveys and overseas recall information can be found at the Consumer Risk Monitoring System (www.ciss.go.kr ) or the Fair Trade Commission's Consumer 24 (www.consumer.go.kr ).
