The anti-corruption and economic crime investigation team of the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency is investigating the chairman of a medium-sized company, A, who was booked on charges of breach of duty this afternoon (20th), as a suspect.
A is accused of paying 1 billion won in company money to make his brother-in-law B, who retired from working as a professor at a private university in Seoul, be appointed as a chair professor in February.
Since then, B has been appointed as a chair professor in March.
After searching for A's company and the university, the police are also looking into whether they violate the anti-graft law.
The police plan to wrap up the investigation soon and send the case to the prosecution within this year.
