During the May 18 Democratic Movement in 1980, the restoration of the former Jeonnam Provincial Government, the last protest site of the civilian army, is speeding up.

The restoration promotion team of the former Jeonnam Provincial Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the restoration is being carried out with the aim of completing it at the end of October next year, and the current process rate is 34%.The old Jeonnam Provincial Office

will be restored as close as possible to the time of May 18, and the interior will be used as a space for memorial, exhibition, and experience.

In addition, unreleased photos and videos, including bullet marks and warheads left at the former Jeonnam Provincial Office, will be displayed for the first time.

At the time of May 18, part of the original form was damaged when the National Asian Cultural Center was built in the former Jeonnam Provincial Office, the last place for civil forces against martial law forces, and the restoration process has been underway since 2019.
