Japanese colonial era A memorial ceremony for the victims of the Sado mine in Japan, where Korean workers were forcibly mobilized, will be held on the 24th, but it has been confirmed that who will attend on behalf of the Japanese government has not yet been decided.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Sado Mine Memorial Ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on the 24th at the Aikawa Development Center in Sado City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, attended by the Japanese central government, local government officials and private organizations.

He also explained that about 10 bereaved families of the victims of forced labor at Sado Mine, as well as Korean government officials, will attend.

However, it has not yet been decided who will attend on behalf of the Japanese government, and our government continues to demand high-level attendance above the level of deputy minister-level political officers in Japan.

The memorial service comes after the Japanese government promised in July to hold an annual memorial service for victims on the condition that our government does not oppose in the process of listing the Sado mine as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
