Ahead of the Christmas season, the peak season for cake sales, the food and distribution industry is introducing a variety of cakes.

In particular, in the hotel industry, which used to offer high-priced cakes every year, cakes that cost well over 300,000 won appeared this year.

On the 19th, Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas unveiled 13 kinds of cakes themed with the theme of "Winter Wish List."

Among them, the most expensive product, "Wish Wheel," costs 350,000 won, 100,000 won more than last year's highest-priced cake "Merrygo Round."

'Wish Wheel' is a good buy.It is a chocolate art showpiece that embodies the difficult year as a moving Ferris wheel, and is produced with a limited number of 50.

A hotel official explained, "The price of materials has recently risen, and in the case of this Wish Wheel product, the price has risen further because it is very delicate and requires a lot of air transportation."

Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul, and Banyan Tree Club and Spa Seoul also unveiled Christmas cakes worth 60,000 won to 140,000 won, respectively, and began pre-orders.

Meanwhile, in the case of the average bakery, about 20% of the annual cake sales are sold during the Christmas season, according to the distribution industry.

Companies are seeking to differentiate themselves by collaborating with characters and designers, or putting out products with unique designs and securing competitiveness.
