Lee Jae-myung meets with the Korea International Trade Association, "Korea's domestic demand grows only when exporting companies do well"

Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said that the Democratic Party will also find ways to support export companies, which are the main pillars of the Korean economy, saying that jobs will increase and domestic demand will grow only when they do well.

In a meeting with officials from the Korea International Trade Association, including Chairman Yoon Jin-sik, at the National Assembly, Lee said, "Exporting companies are usually small and medium-sized enterprises, which account for 80% of domestic employment."

He then stressed the need to completely switch to so-called "negative" regulations that allow for new technologies and new industries where international competition is becoming more serious unless prohibited.

Lee noted, however, that the management and labor circles should openly discuss the easing of the 52-hour workweek, reconsidering the safety freight system and the two-year grace period for the punishment of serious accidents at workplaces with fewer than 50 employees.
