According to the Guardian, the chairman of the ruling Labor Party's Science, Innovation and Technology Committee, Chionura, said he would hear from Musk and other high-level IT companies about the impact of social media on the violence in Britain this summer.
Anti-immigrant violent protests continued in the UK from late July to August in the wake of a stabbing rampage in a children's dance class, which was blamed for the spread of false information and incitement of violence through social media.
The House Science and Innovation and Technology Committee began an official investigation into the impact of social media on the violence today (20th) and is expected to call executives from X, Meta, and TikTok in the future to ask.
However, the British daily Guardian said X did not respond to Musk's attendance in the UK parliament and said it was unlikely he would attend.
Earlier, the U.K. Starmer government criticized related companies for being responsible for the violence as it was promoted on social media, and Musk later publicly clashed with the Starmer government, posting that the U.K. suppresses freedom of expression on social media.
