The Suwon District Court today (21st) sentenced A, in his 60s, to 30 years in prison, the same amount as the prosecution's sentence, for setting fire to a woman's residence and killing her, dissatisfied with the decision to ban access to her.

The court explained that A entered the victim's house even after being informed that he should not approach the residence carelessly, and that the victim died after suffering severe pain in the house where tranquility should be guaranteed.

In addition, he said that A does not seriously reflect on himself and does not make any effort for the victim's bereaved family, adding that it is appropriate to isolate A from society for a long time to prevent recidivism and to have time for repentance.

Earlier on May 9, A was accused of setting fire to a detached house in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, killing the victim in the building at the time due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
