The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office today (21st) indicted a former senior researcher of Samsung Display on charges of stealing key national technology related to display manufacturing and handing it over to a Chinese company.

Mr. A is suspected of filming 17 trade secret materials on Samsung Display manufacturing automation technology without permission from March to April 2021, and then moving to a Chinese company in November of the same year to leak some of the data.

Prosecutors say the economic value of the leaked data amounts to about 241.2 billion won, worth bridging the technology gap of up to 10 years.

According to the prosecution's investigation, Mr. A has been secretly interviewing executives of Chinese companies while working on selling Samsung Display's Chinese subsidiary.
