An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that they are continuing to consult with the Japanese side to prevent any situation of concern with the victim's bereaved family attending.
However, even just three days before the event, the Japanese government's attendance has not been determined, and the Niigata Prefecture branch, where the memorial service will be held, has expressed concerns that it may be difficult to expect a sincere memorial service.
In addition, it is pointed out that there is a problem with the Korean government paying for airfare and accommodation for the bereaved families of Korean victims invited to the memorial service, not Japan.
The "Sado Mine Memorial Ceremony," which does not include the expression "victim" in its official name, will be held at 1 p.m. on the 24th in Sado City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, hosted by an executive committee involving local governments and private organizations.
