Kang recently returned to work after taking sick leave immediately after the end of the disciplinary action, but eventually announced his intention to resign.

The presidential office is reportedly planning to accept Kang's resignation.

Senior administrator Kang, who is considered the so-called "Kim Gun-hee Line," was cracked down by police while driving drunk on a road in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul in June, and was fined 8 million won on the 16th of last month.
