From 2021 to September this year, a total of 964 consumer consultations related to the closure of medical institutions or closure of businesses were received by the Korea Consumer Agency, which is on the rise every year.
As for the reason for consultation, 71 percent of the requests for reimbursement of medical expenses already paid accounted for the majority, followed by complaints due to discontinuation of treatment.
By treatment subject, dentistry was the most common at 34%, followed by dermatology, plastic surgery, and oriental medicine.
The Korea Consumer Agency urged medical institutions that offer excessive discounts or require full payment to be especially careful.
He also explained that if a closed medical institution makes a credit card installment payment, it can exercise the right to defend the remaining installments to the credit card company.
