U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has named former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to replace Matt Gates, who resigned over allegations of underage sex purchases.

In a post on his social media, Trump introduced that the nominee has worked as a prosecutor for nearly 20 years and has been adamant about violent crimes, and that he has cracked down hard on drugs as Florida's first female attorney general.

The Justice Department also said it had been used as a means of political retaliation against itself and Republicans for too long, stressing that the nominee would focus solely on making America safe against crime.

As for Gates, who resigned, he wrote that he respects his efforts not to burden the new administration and wishes for a bright future, without mentioning allegations of underage prostitution.
