Singer Lim Young-woong will be the main character of the conference. An academic analysis of his popularity will take place.

The Korean Society of Popular Music and the East Asia Research Institute of Sungkonghoe University will hold a regular academic conference on the theme of "Lim Young-woong" on the 3rd floor of the main building of the Korea National University of Broadcasting and Communication in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 30th.

Lim Young-woong has become a socio-cultural phenomenon beyond just trot singers and popular singers, the Korean Popular Music Association said. "All kinds of discourses about Lim Young-woong were produced in the form of articles and books, but serious academic research on these questions was very rare."

He then explained the background of the conference, saying, "In order to inspire academic interest in Lim Young-woong and overcome the current research situation limited to fandom research, we have prepared a venue for discussing Lim Young-woong in various ways."

At this conference, presentations and discussions will be held under the themes of "Why He's Still Mr. Trot: Genre Performance of Trot and Lim Young-woong," "Im Young-woong from a Musical Perspective: Focusing on the Traditional Music Patterns of Mask (脫)," "The Birth of Hero: Lim Young-woong's narrative and discourse seen in articles," and "The Analysis of Copyright Status and Influence of Lim Young-woong's Song."
