Tottenham manager Engie Postecoglou fully supported the club's decision to appeal against Bentancourt for making racist remarks against Son Heung-min, saying the punishment was heavy.

According to Sky Sports in the UK, Postecoglou said, "Bentancourt is a really outstanding person, a great team member, and a player with the best personality," adding, "We will support Bentancourt at the club level."

Tottenham filed an objection, saying Bentancourt made racist remarks to Son Heung-min, which resulted in a seven-game suspension, a fine of £100,000 and a disciplinary level of about 180 million won in our money.

When Bentancourt, a Uruguayan, was asked by the broadcaster to "save Son Heung-min's uniform" in June, he caused a controversy over racism by saying, "Even if I bring Son Heung-min's cousin's uniform, I won't know it, and he looks just like Son Heung-min or his cousin."
