National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik asked the ruling and opposition parties to appoint a member of the special investigation committee for the investigation of the death of Chae by the 27th.

Chairman Woo held a press conference at the National Assembly and said that the National Assembly's launch of a parliamentary investigation to prevent further delays in the investigation of the Chae Sang-byung case is the way to fulfill its constitutional obligations.

He then explained that the National Assembly speaker's judgment was that although the special prosecution law was voted three times to resolve suspicions and restore public trust, the parliamentary investigation was inevitable because it was not realized due to the exercise of the president's right to demand reconsideration.

Chairman Woo said that the ruling party's opposition to the parliamentary investigation on the grounds that it is under investigation is a public demand to establish measures to prevent recurrence through fact-finding of the case, and that he thinks the ruling party will also participate.

Chairman Woo stressed that if a special committee is formed, it will be implemented within the regular session of the National Assembly, saying that it must adopt a plan to conduct a parliamentary investigation and vote at the plenary session.
