Suspicions of Preferential Adoption of Son's Arrest Warrant for Former NEC Secretary-General Kim Se-hwan Dismissed

The arrest warrant for Kim Se-hwan, the former secretary-general of the National Election Commission, who is suspected of hiring preferential children, has been rejected.

The Seoul Central District Court today (22nd) questioned former Secretary-General Kim, who is accused of abuse of authority, before his arrest.

The court did not issue a warrant, saying that although the case is serious, it is difficult to conclude that there is a possibility of destroying evidence or running away.

Earlier, former Secretary-General Kim briefly replied that he was sorry to reporters who asked whether he directly ordered preferential support for his son and why he deleted his records such as mobile phones.

Former Secretary-General Kim is accused of intervening in the process of his son joining the NEC as an eighth-grade experienced worker and being deployed.

Since May last year, the prosecution has been investigating allegations of irregularities in hiring the NEC, including preferential hiring of children, based on the NEC's request for its own investigation and accusations by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
