The Metropolitan Police Department said no casualties were reported in the incident and that it was blocking nearby roads and inspecting objects as a precaution.
The U.S. Embassy in Britain also said local authorities are investigating suspected objects outside the embassy.
The U.S. Embassy in the U.K. used to be in the Mayfair area of central London before moving to "Nine Elms" in south London in 2018.
