UN Climate Assembly disagrees over goal of 'burdening Article 351 of advanced countries'

A draft of climate funding goals has been drafted for the closing day of COP29, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, where representatives from around the world discuss ways to respond to climate change, but the differences between developed and developing countries are not narrowing.

The COP29 Chairperson unveiled a new agreement that set the goal of donating $250 billion and 351 trillion won to develop advanced countries by 2035, with $1.3 trillion in climate resources annually and 1,826 trillion won in Korean money.

Foreign Minister Yeltsin Rafiev of COP29 host Azerbaijan told reporters the draft deal was "not in line with fair and ambitious goals, but will continue to communicate with the parties."

However, developing countries are protesting that developed countries, which are largely responsible for climate change, are less burdened, while developed countries are complaining that the amount is too high.

As a result, COP29, which was originally scheduled to officially close on the same day, is likely to pass the official schedule as in previous years.

Last year's 28th General Assembly in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, ended a day later and the 27th General Assembly in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, closed two days later.
