November 22nd is Kimchi Day... "Supporting sustainable growth of the kimchi industry."

On the occasion of the 5th Kimchi Day yesterday (22nd), the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced that it will actively support the kimchi industry to grow into a sustainable industry.

Agriculture Minister Song Mi-ryeong said at the Kimchi Day ceremony that the kimchi industry has seen remarkable growth and changes both at home and abroad recently.

Every year on November 22, Kimchi Day is the first legal anniversary of food designation in 2020, meaning that 11 kimchi ingredients are gathered to show 22 effects.

With the Korean Wave and growing overseas interest in kimchi, kimchi exports in the first 10 months of this year amounted to $134.7 million, up 3.1% from the same period last year.
