Recently, our society has been able to access a lot of new content on various platforms enough to be called the 'Earge of Content Flood'.

Nevertheless, it is said that it is popular among the MZ generation these days to watch old dramas that were popular in the 2000s again.

Reporter Kang Na-ri covered what the background was.

It is 'Sorry, I Love You', a drama starring So Ji-sub and Lim Soo-jung, which became popular in 2004.

Recently, the drama was reborn as a six-part directorial version through Wave, a domestic OTT platform, and the premiere of Wave's collaboration with theaters at six theaters across the country quickly sold out.

In terms of reservation rate, the percentage of teenage visitors was the highest at 35.4%.

In addition to the existing viewers, who were called the so-called "Misa Lung-in," a new group of teenage viewers who wanted to know the emotions of the early 2000s was introduced.

The MZ generation is exposed to old dramas by watching these reprocessed versions of dramas and searching for short versions of dramas that were broadcast in the past through YouTube channels.

[Lee Yeonhee / Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul] I'm a big hit with new songs and new dramas. If I do it, it feels like I'm chasing other people. I feel like I'm trying not to do it anymore and trying to see something meaningful.]

[Kim Boseul / Sangdo-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul: I want to watch it again because it's fun. I think I watch a lot of edited versions on YouTube. It's fun to sympathize with people's comments....]

Broadcasters are providing replay videos of old dramas through YouTube channels,

OTT Wave is a 'new classical project' that revises 2000s masterpieces into a 2024 version, targeting the MZ generation.

[Han Jung-eun/ Content Wave CMO: We are publishing clips by broadcasters, and there are people who consume them every year. It takes a lot of time to watch 16 and 20 episodes. I was thinking about improving the quality part of the video....]

Experts believe that the demand of the MZ generation looking for old dramas will continue to increase.

[Ha Jae-geun / Culture critic: There is a pure feeling of past content that is different from today's content. The flow to enjoy it can continue....]

As the number of MZ generation viewers rewatching old dramas to find something different has increased, how to reprocess their works into attractive ways has become a new challenge for producers and broadcasters.
