Amid heightened tensions over a missile battle with Russia, several explosions were heard in Ukraine's capital Kyiv with an air raid warning on the 24th local time, Reuters reported.

Reuters said air raid warnings had been sounded in most of northeastern Ukraine, including Kyiv and surrounding areas, since around 1 a.m.

The war in Ukraine, more than 1,000 days into the war, has been at its peak as the missile battle between Ukraine and Russia has intensified recently.

The U.S., Italian and Spanish embassies in Kyiv temporarily closed their embassies and evacuated staff on the 20th, saying they had received information that Russia could launch a large-scale airstrike.

Ukraine's parliament canceled a plenary session scheduled on the 22nd over fears of Russian airstrikes on government buildings.
