Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, was acquitted in the first trial of the perjury teacher case, easing the burden of judicial risk.

However, the prosecution has announced an appeal, and there are still many challenges to overcome as the next presidential candidate, not just one or two trials between Suwon and Seoul.

Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, was acquitted in the first trial in the perjury teacher case, so he could take a breather for now.

However, as the prosecution has announced an immediate appeal and is currently facing five trials, including perjury teachers, there are many mountains to overcome as the next presidential candidate.

First of all, the election law case, which was sentenced to probation of imprisonment in the first trial, will be followed by a sharp court battle in the second trial as both representative Lee and the prosecution disagree.

If the result is confirmed as it is, Lee will not be able to run for the next presidential election in March 2027, and the Democratic Party will have to return 43.4 billion won in the last presidential election.

The 33rd Criminal Agreement Department, which sentenced the perjury teacher case, is also hearing allegations of CEO Lee's Daejang-dong, Seongnam FC, Wirye New Town, and Baekhyeon-dong.

It is expected that it will take a long time until the first trial sentence, with more than 100 witnesses applied.

The prosecution will soon submit an opinion to the effect of separating the Wirye and Daejang-dong and requesting a sentence first.

Representative Lee is also facing two trials in the Suwon District Court, including allegations of remittance to the North.

On the 29th, Lee Hwa-young, former governor of peace in Gyeonggi-do Province, was scheduled to be sentenced on the 29th on related charges,
It is a burdensome point for Lee, as the former lieutenant governor
is a close aide to Lee and was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison in the first trial.

Recently, the prosecution handed CEO Lee over to trial on charges of misappropriation of corporate credit cards.

Representative Lee has to go back and forth between Seoul and Suwon to carry out five trials and attend trials as many as three to four times a week.

Although the acquittal of the first trial of the perjury teacher case has eased the burden a little, concerns over judicial risk are unlikely to subside easily.
