The conclusion of the first trial of Lee Jae-myung's perjury teacher case, which lasted for about a year, was innocent.

First of all, the court judged that some of the testimony that Kim Jin-sung, a close aide of the late former Seongnam Mayor Kim Byung-ryang, presented at Lee's trial in 2019 was "false allegations."

It was contrary to Kim's memory that he was in talks with KBS, saying that if the charges against KBS PD Choi Chul-ho, who was investigating the suspicion of preferential sale of former mayor Kim, were dropped, it would be disadvantageous for Lee to remain alone.

The prosecution has argued that such perjury is the result of Lee's urging, but the judgment of the first trial court was completely different.

First of all, CEO Lee said he contacted Kim to convey the necessary testimony and check how he remembered it, which is not much different from the usual request for testimony, so it is difficult to say that he requested perjury.

Above all, at the time of contact with Kim, CEO Lee decided that "intention" was not recognized because it was not possible to predict in advance whether Kim would testify in the actual trial or what part of perjury he would perjure.

He explained that the fact that CEO Lee gave and confirmed the summary of his argument also falls within the scope of the exercise of the right to defend himself.
