The anti-corruption and economic crime investigation team of the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency sent 11 people, including the head of a Chinese electric bus importer, to the prosecution for manipulating documents to supply electric buses to Korea at low prices and stealing subsidies.

They are accused of tampering with documents as if the carrier had met the self-payments needed to receive electric bus subsidies for more than three years starting in 2021.

They were found to have siphoned off about 10 billion won in subsidies while supplying buses for tens of millions of won lower than the minimum self-payment through a back-side contract.

Police believe the scale of the crime could be larger and are expanding the investigation to all electric bus importers.
