A motorcade in the direction of the tunnel as the signal changed at the previous intersection.
A 4.5t lorry runs at breakneck speed along the downhill road from the hill on the right side of the road.
Unable to slow down, it breaks through the safety railing and the front of the vehicle hits the road 5m below vertically.
The impact of hitting the railing also causes the driver to bounce out of the vehicle and crash onto the road.
[Kim Sun-jong / Accident Witness: I first tapped the driver to see if he was conscious. He was breathing.]
There was no secondary damage, but all the vehicles stopped and the road was blocked.Ambulances were able to reach the scene as witnesses to the
accident guided other vehicles on either side.
Unfortunately, the driver had stopped breathing and pulse and died after being taken to the hospital.
Police were unable to confirm whether the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt because it was severely broken and found no clear signs of braking.
[Police official: There are signs that the vehicle rolled. There are traces of tires. It's hard to see it as a brake sign....]
Police officials said the cargo was not overloaded at about 2 tons and the exact details of the accident were being investigated.
