According to the European Parliament, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will present the introduction of a 26-member executive committee and major policy initiatives over the next five years at the plenary session in Strasbourg, France, on the 27th.
On the afternoon of the 27th, members of the European Parliament will hold a final vote on all 26 members of the executive committee, and if they secure a majority vote, a new Commission will be launched on the 1st of next month.
During the confirmation hearing held on the 4th and 12th, the approval of seven of the 26 candidates was put on hold in the aftermath of the "gi fight" between political groups, raising concerns about whether the new executive could be launched in December.
Then, the final vote of the executive committee was included in this week's plenary session's agenda, with a surprise agreement to approve seven candidates held at a major political group meeting on the 20th.
The EU Commission, which corresponds to the State Council, consists of 27 members, including the head of the executive branch, the executive chairman, and 26 members of the executive committee.
About 60% of the new commission will be classified as right-wing or hard-right, including Commission President von der Leyen, the center-right European People's Party, 14 EPP members, one far-right PfE and one ECR.
