Industrial accident statistics released by the Ministry of Employment and Labor show 203 deaths in the construction industry, 134 in the manufacturing industry and 106 in other industries through the third quarter of this year.
Falling accidents and deaths accounted for the largest proportion of 37%, followed by collision accidents (9.3%) and falling and turning accidents (6.5%).The Ministry of Employment
said total deaths from industrial accidents decreased by 8.5% compared to the same period last year, and by industry, construction decreased but increased by more than 10% each in manufacturing and other industries.
In addition, he said he will do his best to internalize industrial safety inspections and supervision so that the decline in deaths can continue until the end of the year.
The statistics of industrial accident deaths are based on the Korea Labor Welfare Corporation's approval of compensation for the bereaved families of accident deaths, and are different from the statistics of "death accidents subject to accident investigations" based on the year of approval, not the year of occurrence.
