President Yoon Suk Yeol exercised his right to demand reconsideration, or 'rejection,' in the third special prosecution law related to First Lady Kim Gun-hee.
The government, which proposed a request for reconsideration earlier, pointed out that the independent counsel law is also a bill that allows the opposition party to wield the independent counsel candidate at will.

President Yoon Suk Yeol has exercised his right to demand reconsideration of the Special Prosecutor's Act on First Lady Kim Gun-hee.
It is the third veto of the independent counsel Kim's law, which the opposition party has handled alone, and the 25th request for re-examination of the bill since taking office.
Earlier, President Yoon pointed out at a press conference that it is a constitutional idea for the opposition to appoint an independent counsel opposed by the president and the ruling party.
[Yoon Suk Yeol / President] [Press conference on the 7th] It's basically a constitutional idea because appointing a special counsel that the president and the ruling party oppose means that anything can be done by law.]
Kim's independent counsel law, which was vetoed this time, was passed exclusively by the opposition party at the plenary session of the National Assembly on the 14th.
Unlike previous bills, the scope of the investigation was reduced to "Suspicion of Deutsche Motors stock price manipulation" and "Suspicion related to Myung Tae-kyun" and granted the Supreme Court the right to recommend special counsel candidates, which included provisions that the National Assembly could demand re-recommendation.
In response, Prime Minister Han Deok-soo said, "I regret that the opposition party has again unilaterally passed the independent counsel bill, which has not been resolved at all, at the Cabinet meeting."
In particular, he pointed out that if the candidate recommended by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was deemed unfit, the opposition party could exercise its "right to veto" indefinitely.
[Han Deok-soo / Prime Minister: It only has the formal appearance of a third-party recommendation, but in reality, the opposition party has decided to control the recommendation of candidates for special prosecution]
The third independent counsel law on First Lady Kim, which passed the National Assembly led by the opposition party, went back to the National Assembly.
The presidential office recently met with ruling party lawmakers one after another, and some analysts say that it may have a re-vote in mind.
