While U.S. President-elect Trump has predicted a 25% tariff on Mexico and Canada, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has said she will send a letter to Trump demanding his withdrawal.

In a regular news conference broadcast live on YouTube, President Sheinbaum released the full text of the letter, stressing that the solution to drug consumption problems or migration is not a threat or a tariff.

It also argued that tariff pressures could lead to inflation and job losses in both countries.

He also said that if one tariff is imposed, other tariff measures will come in response, suggesting the possibility of retaliatory tariffs.

Mexico's local media reported that if Trump actually imposes tariffs, it would violate the trade agreement between the three North American countries that took effect in 2020.
