The Korea Meteorological Administration said that "first snow" was observed throughout the metropolitan area after 11 p.m. last night as rain in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province turned into snow.
Based on the weather station in Songwol-dong, Jongno-gu, the first snow in Seoul was nine days later than last year (November 17) and six days later than usual.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said that as snow clouds gradually expand and strengthen inland, a lot of snow of up to 20cm or more in Gyeonggi Province and up to 10cm in Seoul will accumulate by tomorrow, and urged people to pay attention to traffic safety on their way to work in the morning and on their way home in the evening.
In particular, special attention should be paid to Gangwon-do, where the heaviest snow of up to 30cm is expected, as the heavy snow warning is gradually being issued to the Yeongseo area following Yeongdong.
