Reuters, citing two sources, said Trump's side was exploring new diplomatic efforts to reduce the risk of armed conflict with North Korea.
The news agency said President Trump believes that he is most likely to take a direct approach amid increased tensions with the U.S., such as North Korea sending military troops to Russia and participating in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Reuters added, however, that Trump has not made a final decision and that discussions about direct dialogue are also fluid.
