As the heavy snow warning took effect in the metropolitan area and Gangwon area, the government operated the first stage of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and raised the level of the heavy snow crisis warning from 'attention' to 'caution'.

Each local government also issued emergency work orders and worked with related agencies to respond to all-out snow removal.

Let me find out more about it. Reporter Cha Jung Yoon!

When did the first phase of the company's transcript start operating?

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security launched the first phase of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at 3 a.m. this morning and raised the warning level of the heavy snow crisis from 'attention' to 'caution'.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters asked each local government to focus on preventing damage such as traffic congestion on commuting, multiple crashes on icy roads, and pedestrian safety accidents.

In addition, after the snow removal work on major roads, follow-up snow removal such as side roads, alleys, and sidewalks were carried out, and snow removal was requested to be placed around the bus stop so that local residents could make good use of the snow removal.

So far, it has been confirmed that there have been no major casualties caused by heavy snow.

As of 11 a.m. today, the fire department said it had carried out a total of 213 firefighting activities, including rescuing two citizens isolated due to heavy snow and taking emergency measures.

As a lot of snow fell across the country, sea routes and major national parks were also controlled.

The passenger ship was closed to 89 vessels in 70 routes across the country, including the sea route from Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province to Ulleungdo Island and Incheon to Baengnyeong Island.

In addition, 290 places in 12 national parks, including Bukhansan Mountain, Taebaeksan Mountain, Seoraksan Mountain, and Deogyusan Mountain, are prohibited from entering.

In Seoul, heavy snow warnings are in place all over the country except the southeastern region.

How is the city currently responding?

Earlier, the first stage of snow removal emergency work was operated from 6 p.m. yesterday (26th) in Seoul.

Due to heavy snow overnight, the snow removal emergency work was raised to the second stage from 7 a.m. and all-out response to snow removal with autonomous districts and related organizations was carried out.The city of

is currently dispensing 9,600 personnel and 1,400 equipment to spray snow removal and push away snow accumulated on the road.

Gyeonggi-do Province, which had heavy snow, has also been operating the first emergency stage of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters since 11 p.m. last night and is making all-out efforts to remove snow.

In the Gyeonggi area, there was an accident in Sangsangok-dong, Hanam and Ssangryeong-dong, Gwangju, where a car fell sideways or flipped over due to snow.

Unable to overcome the weight of the snow, trees collapsed, wires stretched, or telephone poles fell, causing power failure.

Gyeonggi-do Province has put in more than 3,400 snow removal equipment and 5,200 manpower to remove the snow.

Since there is still snow on the road, it is recommended to use public transportation on your way to and from work and to secure a sufficient safe distance when driving.
