The Gyeonggi provincial government said the claim that some heads of local governments in the province rejected the Gyeonggi Southern Metropolitan Railway project in response to the proposal to build a national railway network is not true.

Oh explained that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport proposed high-speed and general railways in February this year in accordance with the new project guidelines distributed in October last year, and in May, the metropolitan railway project was proposed to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Oh said, "It was difficult to accept the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's request for prioritizing the three projects, but considering the relationship with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, we inevitably selected three routes and asked them to actively review all the projects."

Regarding the reason why the Gyeonggi Southern Metropolitan Railway was not included in the preferred project, he explained, "The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is pushing for the expansion of the railway private investment project, so we can receive positive reviews from the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan."

First of all, the reason for not disclosing the route names of the three projects and the B/C (cost-benefit) value of the route was that "there was a request for non-disclosure due to concerns about side effects such as real estate speculation."
