Introduction of AI Textbooks 'Speed Control'... 'Consideration of Excluding Introduction of Korean Language'

The government is reportedly considering delaying or canceling the introduction of artificial intelligence digital textbooks for some subjects.

The Ministry of Education said it is true that it is considering excluding the introduction of AI digital textbooks for Korean language, technology, and home subjects, but it has not been confirmed yet.

It is also known to discuss delaying the introduction of AI digital textbooks for social studies and science subjects.

Starting next year, the Ministry of Education announced that AI digital textbooks will be introduced in phases in 2026, social studies, science, technology, and home history, 2027, and high school common Korean language, integrated society, Korean history, and integrated science in 2028.

However, as voices of opposition such as concerns over digital immersion continued inside and outside the education community, it seems that they have started adjusting the timing of introduction as well as introduction subjects.

Also, it was estimated that the National Council of Provincial Superintendents expressed their opinion that the introduction of AI digital textbooks should be prudent last month.
