In the case of investigations into the president or relatives, a revision to the National Assembly's rules recommending candidates for permanent special prosecutors without ruling parties has passed the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee.

People's power protested that preventing the ruling party from having the right to recommend would violate the neutrality, fairness and independence of the special prosecutor.

On the other hand, the Democratic Party of Korea passed the amendment with the approval of all opposition parties, saying that investigative agencies must have independence in order to investigate the president and his family.

The amendment passed by the Judiciary Committee is expected to be voted on at the plenary session of the National Assembly tomorrow (28th).
