Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and Jordan's King Abdullah II also called for an immediate ceasefire on the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza on the first day of the Israeli-Hizbullah ceasefire.

Egypt's presidential office said the two leaders met in Cairo on the 27th local time and agreed on the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and humanitarian aid without restrictions or conditions.

They argued that a "two-state solution" to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital based on the border on June 4, 1967, a day before the third Middle East war, would ensure the restoration of stability in the region.

The two leaders also discussed the situation in Lebanon and welcomed a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, the president's office added.
