Due to heavy snow overnight, there are many places where the snow so far exceeds 40cm.

The unusual heavy snow warning, which had been issued for two days in Seoul and other metropolitan areas, has just been lifted.

However, there are still places where snow falls around Chungcheong inland.

I'm connecting with the reporter. Reporter Jang Ayoung!

How much snow has it snowed so far?

[Reporter]
As a lot of snow fell overnight, nearly 50cm of snow accumulated in Baekam-myeon, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do.

As the day dawned and the accumulated snow melted, the current amount of snow decreased slightly.

Still, there are still many places that are stacked more than 40cm.

Currently, cumulative snowfall is 42.6cm in Baekam-myeon, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, 42.1cm in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, 38.3cm in Jincheon, Chungbuk, and 38.1cm in Gwanak-gu, Seoul.

Many places in the metropolitan area, including Suwon, recorded the most snow since the observation.

Let's take a look at the current snow situation with YTN disaster reporting system 'Idas'.

This is the current state of Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, where the snow has accumulated the most.

Cars are traveling at a slow pace down the snowy downhill.

Snow removal work is in full swing.

There are many areas in the metropolitan area such as Seoul that have stopped snowing, but Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do, is still snowing a lot.

Snow warnings issued across Seoul, Incheon, Uiwang, Gwangju, and Anyang in Gyeonggi Province have been lifted at 10 a.m.

However, heavy snow warnings are still in place in southern Gyeonggi-do, inland Gangwon-do, and North Chungcheong-do and North Gyeongsang-do.

Strong wind warnings are also in effect in Chungnam and Jeonbuk.

Since yesterday, the low pressure has stagnated in the north of the Korean Peninsula, and snow clouds have continued to flow from the west.

Snow clouds are moving southeast at a slow speed of about 10km/h and sprinkling snow.

Temperatures are currently 2.3 degrees in Seoul, 0.3 degrees in Suwon, and -1.1 degrees in Chuncheon, which is slightly higher than in the early morning.

It's been two days of heavy snow warning, until when does it snow?

[Reporter]
First of all, there is no more snow in Seoul today.

As the snow cloud band gradually descends southeast from the evening, it is expected to fall 10cm more in the mountainous areas in southern Gangwon and 15cm more in the mountainous areas of Jeju.

In areas where temperatures rise during the day, this snow will turn into rain.

Snow, which has entered a lull, will return to the central inland from tomorrow afternoon, but the intensity is expected to be weaker than yesterday or today.

It is expected that 1 to 5cm will fall in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi areas, 1 to 3cm in Chungcheong and Jeolla areas, and 1 to 5cm in Gyeongbuk and Jeonbuk inland areas, respectively.

On Saturday, the weekend, the snow is expected to turn into rain and be scattered in the Jeolla-do area, but on Sunday, the weather will become clear and cold, and the road is likely to freeze overnight.

There has already been a lot of snow, and in particular, this snow is a "heavy snow" full of moisture, leading to broken trees or collapsing ceilings.

Be sure to have winter equipment when traveling by vehicle and be careful when walking on the street.
