At a rare book auction held in Richfield, Staffordshire, England, the first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in hardcover was sold for 36,000 pounds and about 60 million won in our money.
The first edition of the first Harry Potter film, which was sold this time, was published in 1997, and only 500 hard covers were published at that time.
Christine McCuller, who put the book up for auction, said she didn't expect the book to be this expensive in 1997 for £10 and W18,000 at a bookstore in Stratford-upon-Avon, England.
"Like other children around the world, my son really loved this book," McCuller recalled, adding, "It's time to hand it over for others to enjoy it."
