People's Power said it will file a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office against Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, for violating the Political Fund Act, saying he was involved in the illegal presidential election fund case.

Joo Jin-woo, chairman of the party's legal advisory committee, held a press conference and said it was found that Lee was involved in the case where Kim Yong, former vice president of the Korea Institute for Democracy, received 600 million won in illegal presidential funds from Yoo Dong-kyu, former head of the planning division of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, and accused Lee of being an accomplice.

Lee then asked former Vice Chairman Kim's lawyers to participate in the Telegram room and suggested a trial strategy, and asked why Lee is so active in "secretly pleading" if Kim received 600 million won in presidential funds without Lee's knowledge.

Earlier, Kim was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of receiving 600 million won in illegal political funds and 70 million won in bribes in the first trial.
