132 people are said to have been killed in armed conflict between government forces and rebels in northwestern Syria during the civil war.

The U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the largest rebel faction linked to the Islamic extremist militant al-Qaeda, attacked Syrian government forces in northern Aleppo province yesterday (27th).

In addition, 132 people, including 49 government troops, were killed in the fighting over the past 24 hours.

Syria's civil war, which erupted in 2011, was won by government forces led by President Bashar al-Assad thanks to Russian intervention in 2015, but it is far from over.
