A motion to arrest Shin Young-dae of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was requested for an arrest warrant on charges of bribery and manipulation of public opinion in the general election, was rejected at the plenary session of the National Assembly.

As a result of the anonymous vote, the motion to arrest Shin did not meet the requirement to approve the majority of the 295 lawmakers, with 93 in favor, 197 against, and 5 abstentions.

As a result, Representative Shin will be tried without detention without being examined for the validity of the warrant.

Active lawmakers have the privilege of not being arrested or detained without the consent of the National Assembly during the session.

Rep. Shin is accused of receiving 100 million won worth of money from Seo, CEO of Gunsan Citizen Power Co., to resolve complaints about the solar power business, and of using a number of mobile phones to manipulate public opinion during the last general election.
