Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun said he understands that North Korean troops dispatched to the war in Ukraine are organized in the Russian military and are participating in the war.

Minister Kim responded to a question from a ruling party member at the National Assembly's National Defense Committee, saying, "There is intelligence that it will be organized in the form of a platoon of one North Korean military per company of the Russian military."

He then said that the meaning of fighting a war under the leadership of the Russian military would send a North Korean platoon to the most dangerous and difficult areas for the Russian company commander, so the expression "bullet-asser" is correct.

Minister Kim also maintained his position that South Korean military observers should be sent to the battlefield in Ukraine, but explained that the Ministry of National Defense is not supervising the dispatch.

It says it is working in solidarity with the international community to respond to weapons aid for Ukraine.
