Lee Kyu-won, spokesman of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, who ran for the general election as an incumbent prosecutor and did not return to the prosecution, has been dismissed from the prosecutor's position.

The Ministry of Justice dismissed spokesman Lee on the 26th for violating his duty and his duty not to engage in political movements.

The Justice Department explained that the spokesman had left his job since April, refusing to go to work without justifiable reasons, and had been acting as a spokesperson for a certain political party since May and engaged in political activities.

In addition, spokesman Lee said that he worked as an internal member of the past investigation team of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office from November 2018 to June of the following year, writing false interview results and reporting them to the past affairs committee to interfere with the committee's work.

The reason for the disciplinary action was that in March 2019, he impersonated the head of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office and wrote a request for approval of the emergency exit ban on former Vice Justice Minister Kim Hak-ui.

Earlier, spokesman Lee submitted his resignation to run for the general election in March, but the Ministry of Justice did not accept the case because the second trial of the former vice minister Kim's illegal departure ban was underway.

Spokesperson Lee was indicted in April 2021 on charges of engaging in the illegal ban on the departure of former Vice Minister Kim, which was included in the disciplinary grounds, and was acquitted by an appeals court on the 25th.
