Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il proposed a one-on-one public discussion with Gyeonggi-do Province and Governor Kim Dong-yeon regarding the southern Gyeonggi railway project.

Mayor Lee said, "It is irresponsible for Governor Kim to put three GTX Plus projects (GTX G·H, C extension) as his priority and put off the Gyeonggi Southern Railway project as a subordinate," and demanded, "Explain in front of citizens why Governor Kim abandoned his promises he had agreed with the mayors of Yongin, Suwon, Seongnam and Hwaseong."

Mayor Lee emphasized, "Gyeonggi Southern Railway is a project with high economic feasibility and is an essential transportation infrastructure that benefits 1.38 million citizens in four cities."

In addition, pointing out that only 490,000 people benefit from the GTX Plus project, he said, "The cost-benefit (BC) value of the Gyeonggi Southern Metropolitan Railway project is very high at 1.2, so please provide an objective basis for why you put this project down to the next rank."

Mayor Lee added, "If Governor Kim avoids even discussing, the residents will have more doubts about his decision to put only the GTX Plus project ahead, and the issue that Gyeonggi Province's position announced on the 27th is nothing more than an excuse that lacks legitimacy will be highlighted."
