With the parliamentary conflict continuing for 10 months, two medical organizations participating in the ruling and opposition party council are discussing whether to stop participating in the council.

The Korean Medical Association reportedly held an emergency executive meeting this morning (29th) to discuss the suspension of participation in the consultative body.

At this meeting, the Korean Medical University, Medical Graduate Association, and Medical Association also joined the consultative body, so we decided to observe the discussion of the Medical Association today and collect opinions before organizing our final position.

A medical association of deans from all over the country plans to gather opinions from the deans this evening.

The ruling and opposition parties' parliamentary consultative body to resolve the parliamentary conflict held three meetings since its launch on the 11th, but the consultative body itself has been left idle as it has failed to find a clue to resolving next year's medical school quota, which the medical community has continuously demanded.

On top of that, as Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People's Power Party, promised to establish a national medical school in North Gyeongsang Province, voices have grown that the consultative body itself has become meaningless.

In addition, the emergency committee of the Korean Medical Association asked the two organizations, which held the second meeting on the 27th, to come out of the consultative body, which is one of the reasons for the deepening concern over the suspension of participation in the consultative body.
